RE: Just traded to a 4X4 TV

The 4-wheel drive debate. Say all you want, the basic truths will not change. -A little skill and momentum and weight on the drive wheels and you can do some amazing things without 4 WD. -A lot of 4WD never gets used. -The front axle can give you extra pull. -Sometimes 4WD can get you out of a pinch that 2WD cannot. -Sometimes 4WD can get you more stuck than if you had 2WD. -"Low Range" is an option you tend to get with 4WD that you don't with 2WD. Forget all the "free advice" and enjoy your vehicle! ya but if you camp off road, like i do, you need 4wd, id like to see anyone pull my trailer in the sand with 2wd...

RE: 5er or Pull behind pro's and con's

i just upgraded to a 39 foot 5er from a 30 foot pull behind, night and day difference in towing, no more getting blown off the road when a semi passes. i dont know about loosing bed room, my 5er has way more room in the bed room then my front bed bumper pull did. and allot easier to hitch up, compared to hooking up swap and wd stuff... I feel safer driving the new trailer. and it is smother ride too

RE: Pros and cons of Wolf Pack 27DFWP

I have had extensive problems with a wolfpack 386WP. Forest river would not be my first choice in a toyhauler due to their lack of custome service, poor quality workmanship, high frequency of repairs, lack of attention to details, poor quality of materials, lots of chinese parts ive got a forest river, and so do 2 friends, none of us have ever had any problems...

RE: Solar - RV Solar - Costco - Just finished the installation

I doubt we will see solar panel prices coming down any time soon. They have in many instances over the last few years actually gone up and supplies have been short on certain brands. I've noticed that oil companies such as Shell have been buying some of the companies that make solar panels. It makes me wonder if it's in the oil companies best interest to make affordable alternative energy available to the masses. Solar panels like mine can last 20+ years without a major reduction in output. If you think of it in terms of unburned gas in the generator over that timespan it really adds up. To make my RV more energy efficient and not draw the batteries down as quickly I've converted almost all of my lighting in my toy hauler to LED lighting. It puts out a nice white light and only draws a fraction of the amperage that my OEM lights did. 2-3 amps lights up the whole trailer and also the campsite with high intensity LED floods by made by Trucklite. It makes me wonder why its taking so long for this technology to come down in price and reach the masses. If we all had this LED technology lighting our homes and businesses we could make a big impact on our energy bills and the lights would last much longer. I look forward to the day that the new high intensity LED's that come in the latest flashlights come down and become available. I foresee a number of applications I could use them for but something tells me that somebody up there is holding it back. They don't want us to have something that will use a fraction of the energy (or makes free electricity from the sun) and lasts much longer than what we have now. If they have no moving parts to break, aren't make of rare and expensive elements and can be mass produced then what's the holdup. i was watching eco tech on the science channel there is a company that made solar panels on a sheet, kinda like printing them, they said currently they go for 4 dollars a watt but as they ramp up manufacturing they hope to make them for 1 dollar a watt, and they are flexible and more efficient then the current panels!

RE: Dodge 1 ton DRW

well i used to have a dodge 2500 4x4 six speed manual, around town i got 18... towing i got under 10, with a 30 foot toyhauler.. now i have a 40 foot 5er and i could go faster up any hill, and got 9 mpg last trip, due to all the hills... i think my chevy gets better milage, but only because of the tranny imo, i have a friend with the dodge 6 speed auto and he got 12 on the same trip, but my trailer is 10 feet longer and probaly 3k more in weight... we did 50-65 the whole trip

RE: Solar - RV Solar - Costco - Just finished the installation

i dont have solar and i watched 3 movies off my 2 6 volts with my surround running which has a huge amp and a sub... after that i decided i dont want solar untill the price comes down, i only run the generator to use the microwave so far.... and will leave it on for 20 mins or so at the time.. went camping for a whole week, the stereo ran all day long up until midnight or whenever i went to sleep.. maybe just because its brand new and brand new batteries...

RE: Hit by car during a break from a MSF class

kwlincoln, First of all, I'm glad you're okay and your bike is okay. There's not much worse than chrome and plastic hitting the road. BUT... What the heck are you doing riding your Wing to a beginner class in the first place???!!!??? I've been an MSF instructor for the past 22 years (and ridden Goldwings for a bit longer) and I tell my students NOT to ride their bikes to class for several reasons. One, the size difference between their bike and the class bike can be awkward to adjust to quickly (as you have learned), like heading back to class or out to lunch. And if you would have been using the skills they should have taught you in class (SEE), you wouldn't have had this problem in the first place. You should have seen the posibility for this to happen and would have taken appropriate action ahead of time. Aceing the tests just means you paid attention in class and are a good enough rider to pass the test (which really isn't that hard to do anyway). The real test will be how long you survive on the street. Falling over after playing a little bumper cars in a parking lot isn't a good omen. Now pull your head out of the clouds, get back down here to Earth and pay attentiong to EVERYTHING when you're riding your bike (or driving your car). how does "see" tell you some idiot is going to crash into while your parked?

RE: WW Weekend Warrior BBB Rating

12 complaints does not sound bad, but in most forums i see the most complaints about WW, but there may be more WW's on the road so you would have to figure out what percentage of the market they hold then see if the complaints figure in. plus pretty much nobody posts how good their trailer is, only complaints...

RE: Hitch, Sway, and Brake Controller.....Dealer Install?

i just installed my 5th wheel pullrite superglide hitch myself, it was easy, but took all day.. the dealer really wanted to install it... and almost when i came to pick it up they were amazed that I got it done myself, like drilling a few holes and bolting it up is that hard, actually the air bags were harder to install I think...
